There are many ways to make a living in the field of hospitality and travel. Many jobs in this field do not require more than a high school degree. Training is supplied on the job for such positions as janitors and cleaners, bakers and food prepration workers, bartenders, and amusement and recreation attendents.

This is a good industry to look into if you need part time or seasonal work to supplement your income while going to college. If you take a job as a hotel clerk, a waiter, or fast food clerk, you’ll have experience you can take to similar businesses everywhere when you need employment. You will need to prove your trustworthines. Businesses that rely on the good will of the public demand a neat appearance, courteous behavior, and a track-record of honesty and dependability. This is a good field for people who like to be with other people.

Amusement. A variety of establishments provide amusement for a growing number of customers. Some of these businesses provide video game, pinball, and gaming machines to amusement parks, arcades, and casinos. Casinos and other gaming establishments offering off-track betting are a rapidly growing part of this industry segment.

This segment also includes amusement and theme parks, which range in size from local carnivals to multi-acre parks. These establishments may have mechanical rides, shows, and refreshment stands. Other amusement and recreation services include day camps, fireworks display services, go-cart rentals, rodeos, riding stables, waterslides, skating rinks, ski lifts, and establishments offering rental sporting goods.
